It's a Surprise!

Our idea for a registry is that wedding guests be able to contribute anything they want, flowers, cards, a kind word... or simply their presence. Another wonderful gift is helping setup the event itself or taking a few memorable snapshots to share with us. Remember also that St Joseph church could always use a donation: https://www.wesharegiving.org/app/giving/WeShare-2985?tab=home. Finally, understanding that some guests may wish to contribute towards our future together, this website lists tangible travel experiences that we plan on fulfilling this October. The traditional registries with kitchenware and electronics would be cumbersome for us on the world's roads. In exchange for sponsoring a step of our trip, each contributor will receive a special memento of our handiwork. Lovingly yours, Lucy and Jonathan

This is for the entrance to museums on our way to No. Greece and back. We are open to many kinds, although art is our favorite. We can often be found at the VMFA in Richmond. Remember that Colonial Heights, VA is known for its museum of the tractor and Sauve, France for its museum of the "fourche" (pitchfork). We will send the bestower of this gift a small card or other memento from one such cultural institution.

We will likely purchase a tent or related supplies on a camping website, such as ": https://www.auvieuxcampeur.fr/" or at an in-person boutique. Vive les scouts! For this benefactor, Lucy will make a stain glass of the first wild animal that crosses our path.

This will purchase one night modest accommodation in Rome. We would like to visit churches and visit our friend Tina, a retired literature professor living in Villa Borghese. We will light a votive candle and pray for the purchaser of this gift.

Butter is integral to good baking. Lucy and I particularly enjoy Irish salted butter and oppose any movement to cull cow herds. We are not quite ready to churn our own so this would get us started. We would like to send an original recipe to whoever purchases this gift.

A final ingredient for the baking portion of this registry are good old fashioned eggs. In Richmond we have experimented with duck, turkey, quail, and the inevitable chicken egg. You can't make a good French dish without an egg white somewhere. We will have a painted shell for the purchaser if they come and visit us, since we are reluctant to put something so fragile in the mail.

Lucy and I love to bake savory breads and croissants and sometimes even caneles. Ask us about it! Whenever we see the purchaser of this gift again, we would like to break bread. We love different types of flour, such as spelt, coconut, and almond. Yam flour for pizzas is always delicious.

We would like to cross the Adriatic by ferry. Bari-Dubrovnik is one available line or we can choose Bari-Corfu direct. Dubrovnik used to be the free city of Ragusa, a major trading hub for goods and a home to freedom lovers. We will make the purchaser a watercolor of the horizon.

Ioannina to Marseille return leg

Return leg from Greece on an airplane. After this, we will labor away. The airport is named after Pyrrhus of Epirus, a general that commanded large armies against the Roman Republic. We will send a Greek olive twig to this benefactor in honor of the Holy Spirit.

Some ideas are Drakolimni Lake, Holy Kipinas Monastery, Parga Castle, Dodini Theater, and Mt Lakmos. This gift would include lodging and car transportation. For example, an €8 combo ticket, valid for three days, gives access to Ioannina's Archaeological and Byzantine museums. We will write the purchaser a letter from a remote post office.
